October 10, 200619 yr I have to say... I've been getting good FPS out of my system with the retail version. Maybe it's because I'm not trying to demand too much out of it... I don't know. One thing I do know, I am setup and getting a better experience with FSX then 2004 overall. Maybe it's because there were settings on FS2004 I didn't run, like AI traffic.I use to run AI traffic in FS2004 and just got tired of how taxing it was on the system even in FS2004 with my mesh scenery and other things. The truth is most of us don't have the million dollar computer to run FSX full out with all AI Traffic, all autogen, etc... It just won't happen. Not because there's a bug but because it's just to advanced for our computers. Try turning off AI Traffic and then maybe putting autogen to lowest setting and see what kind of results you get. I was getting near 20fps all the time except for places like New York(and that's cause I have scenery complexity to the second highest setting). Even in Toronto I got 20fps mostly non stop.If AI Traffic is that important to you, limit it and maybe sacrifice somewhere else(like Autogen or something else). Until we all get the next generation computers with DX10(let's hope they make a huge difference as they say) we can't expect a sim made to last 3 years to be runnable at the highest settings. Heck if that's what you expect then get the biggest system you can get today, get FS2004 and play to your hearts content cause FS2004 is about at that point where everything can be turned up full and that's after 3 years of it being released.I think people forget that we didn't have AI Cars and boats and all of that in previous versions. It's gonna take a while to be able to play this game at high FPS with most settings turned all the way up.I'm gonna go ahead and start a new thread, hopefully tonight, with screenshots of all my settings to help out and have people try out the same settings to see if they can get better fps.
