MS AI For Earth

Featured Replies

Since MSFS was announced, I kept wondering if the AI technology MS used for its geo research and data sectors (i.e: AI For Earth) is somehow involved in building the MSFS world. Also, the millions of footprints MS released for the US and Canada a couple of years ago, also produced by its AI, could be a prelude to the use of AI for MSFS...

But since I hear people talk or think about Azure AI as doing this or that for MSFS, these ressources could explain what the deep machine learning process at MS did for the geo census and mapping sectors:

MS AI For Earth: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/ai/ai-for-earth-tech-resources

A tech article explaning how AI is used to extract fooptrints: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-ca/blog/how-to-extract-building-footprints-from-satellite-images-using-deep-learning/

If this data and technology is all involved in building the world of MSFS, then it will be a What a Wonderful World Engine without any doubt 🙂

I'm fairly confident all of this technology is a virtuous circle and that MSFS has and will continue to benefit from growing data and techniques. Good times ahead.

That’s a great insight into how the AI helps interpret the images. We are just starting to dip our toes into Azure AI and ML at work, interesting to see real world uses cases.

Thanks for posting!
