FSX cockpit view question

Featured Replies

Hi allHavn't flown much FS in the past, sticking mainly to Fly2 and military sims. However, FSx has piqued my interest and i've loaded up the demo. I have a top of the line PC so can easily run it at 1680x1050 with all options on medium high and lots of effects enabled. It looks *amazing*. However, the actual cockpit panel itself looks pretty terrible by comparison - blocky and almost as if it is in a different res.Am I doing something wrong or is this how it is supposed to be (it's set to 3d and high res 3d but it looks pretty woeful)? Thanks in advance ...Triangle

Triangle, I had exactly the same problem. It wasn't until I turned up Global Texture Resolution that it was resolved.Turn it up, the panel res will shine and so will the texture res of the 'skin' of the airplane.Does this help?

Thanks for the advice but no joy - it made no difference. It's very odd, indeed.Triangle

Actually, having looked at screenies elsewhere, it looks to me like the 3d cockpit is not working - switching between that and 2d makes no difference at all - the instrument panel is stretched to fill the screen and thus looks blocky etc in relation to the outside view in both modes.T :-)

Which aircraft? Are you SURE you're seeing the virtual cockpit? You did press the "A" key to switch from 2d to VC, right?

Yep, def in VC but i've figured it out - press spacebar and roll the mouse wheel for zoom out and the view inside the cockpit is both practical and beautiful. Visually, this is one very impressive sim. Need to fly it awhile now ..Cheers to those who responded.T :-)
