Using Process Lasso and RXP530 crash (resolving)

Featured Replies

Dear all,

I dont know exactly from when the problem occurs, but since begining of the year, it is simply impossible to make a fly with the GNS530.

The final result depends of the plane, with an A2A plane (V35 for exemple), the GNS freeze but the simulator still working, or the simulator crashes with the FlySimWare Falcon 50 (dual 530).

I have reinstalled my RXP product with the last version this week, but still crashing.

In the Event viewer, I get the two RXP crash :

Im using a cloud PC to enjoy my simulator, thats why I m on windows datacenter 2016 (equivalent to W10).

During the last flight, followings addons were used :

  • Prepar3d v4.4
  • REX Sky Force 3d
  • ASV4
  • Flysimware falcon 50
  • T/O from Orbs KTEX

All externals .exe were lunch as administrator, gnssim.exe also.

If you have any suggest ...

Hi,

Can you please detail a little bit more what do you mean with "a cloud PC"?

Hi,

A cloud pc is a computer hosted in the cloud like paperspace that I rent with an hourly fees.

For "laucnhing gnssim" I had just specified to windows to run this exe as an admin.

And, in this configuration, the products were runs normally for many month. It's only from the end of 2019 (october) that I have this issue.

Hi,

It shows 2 different crash location in the Garmin Trainer module KRNLSIM.dll, which will probably help us better pinpoint what could be happening.

For now, it is probable something in the system is interfering with the Garmin Trainer threads. Is there any chance you're running 'optimization' software like process lasso or similar? Are you manually changing the process affinity?

In the meantime I still don't understand:

Do you mean you are manually launching the GNS trainer alongside the simulator? If so you shouldn't, our add-on does it automatically and appropriately in the background.

Yes, process lasso is used to optimize CPU using of prepar3d ... no use makes poorly performances.

I tried a flight without Process Lasso, and yes ... it's work without issues. But the issue isn't close too, since I'm using process lasso to avoid blurries ... Maybe you have a specific configuration of the Garmin trainer module in process lasso ?

Hi,

I'm not familiar with this tool at all and I never recommend using such tools in the context of using our trainer based products because it alters the 'relative priorities' of the simulator and the trainer such that the former is given higher priority and the later starves resources.

I'm not sure there is any special setting but letting the GNS trainer alone, or letting process lasso knowing there is another process running in the background which shouldn't be altered nor letting the simulator running at a higher priority than the background GNS process.

How do you configure it?

Hi, By just changing the affinity and priority of prepar3d to an high priority and using only cores 2-7 instead of 0-7.

@cygair do you have a CPU with 8 cores, or a CPU with 4 cores and HT (hyper threading)?

Regardless if you set P3D priority to high it will evidently compete against the GNS. Basically you're telling the system give all you got to P3D and let other process do their best, if they can... no wonder the issue you're having.

You might want to let the last core (#7 in your case) alone to give room to the GNS:

When the RXP GNS CPU affinity is set to 'automatic' (the default), Unit#1 uses the last available core and Unit#2 uses last-1.

Hi @RXP

Sorry for the delay, but since I have many addons, I would like to understand exactly what happens, and what changed since the beginnign of the 530 freezing.

After many tries, my problems comes form REX Sky Force. If REX is on I cant use process lasso, that result many black textures and blurries.

But, if I do not use REX, and all other addons (including process lasso and ASPv4), all is fine...

Now, my next step is to understand why REX is causing this ...

Thanks !

Thank you for the update on this. Keep us posted as this may also help other customers using the same combination of add-ons!
