Can't get "Bloom" to work....

Featured Replies

As the title states, I can't get it to work.I have the latest drivers for my videocard and the latest version of DirectX.All of th eother games I have that use Bloom function fine, but for some reason it doesn't seem to show up in FSX for me. Is it extremely subtle and maybe I'm missing it. I can't see it at all.Any ideas here?

The first question is: why would you want it? It is a HUGE frame slob. If you turn it on sit on the tarmac somewhere. Then turn it off. You will notice a difference - in fps.

Best way to tell if it's working, at least in the demo, is to set up at Princess Juliana on the runway at night, and see if the VASI lights glow. Also, during the day, bloom makes the sun much brighter, with those... uh... don't know the technical term for it, but they're the rays you see as light bounces off and filters through your eyelashes. Check out my screenshot thread here: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...44404&mode=fullThose two sunsets are with bloom on. You can also see its effects as glints off of shiny surfaces, like the aircraft fuselage, or parts of the cruise ships docked at St. Maartin.Hope that helps! I know I won't be able to run it all the time, and it will be sorely missed when that happens.

It's working now. :)Hey, have you noticed how FSAA doesn't work with bloom on or self-shadowing on by themselves, but if you turn both on FSAA works fine? Also, once you have both on and FSAA is working, you can shut one or the other off and FSAA still works. :)
