March 13, 20206 yr Hello All, It's long winded I just saw no way to get it right w/o the background details. I just recently moved from P3D 3.4 in Win7 to 4.5 in Win10 and all's very well except for one major annoyance and I am at my wit's end trying to resolve. If you have the above installed please help me pinpoint where the apparent conflict is by doing a couple of quick and simple tests to see if you see what I'm seeing. Briefly as I can be: since FSX right thru P3D3.4 I used MS Intellipoint software to remap the middle mouse button to a key combination in order to toggle mouse look while flying with a simple middle mouse button press. This allows one to toggle mouse look on and off with the mouse hand, as well as use the wheel to zoom view with. I believe the default key combination in P3D's controls dialogue is Shift-O, but it can be changed to whatever keys/buttons. So using the above mentioned software to remap middle mouse per application, in this case Prepar3d.exe, I am able to hit Shift-O by using the middle mouse button for one-handed control of view and zoom. I've not been able to get the middle mouse button to use the remapped assignments in MS K&M Center to toggle mouse look. As most here would know, FSUIPC has a mouse look checkbox on the MISC tab that will enable middle mouse toggle of mouse look. And, of note, this does work for me in P3D 4.5. BUT...and this is why I'm asking you to test this: the effect is hugely different than what happens when I use in-sim mouse look, thru Shift-O now, and previously with the middle mouse button using the remapping app. With in-sim ML, hand movement of the mouse is softened and made more fluid, with a gentle horizontal and vertical self-centering such that if you abruptly turn your head from looking full left, towards center, the self-centering will gently put the VC right back into perfect eye point centered position. That does not happen w/ FSUIPC's ML. In it, when you pan abruptly towards center, wherever your mouse's exact physical position is will be displayed on screen, most likely imperfectly uncentered, as it's tricky to get it exactly centered on a quick pass like this. Plus, it's linear, mechanical, and rigid. In-sim ML feels/looks much more natural, and that is true as well for panning vertically to look at the center console for example. To rule out Win 10 being a culprit in why remapped middle mouse button press no longer can initiate a Shift-O combination to toggle mouse look in-sim, I checked to see if middle mouse button could be remapped to for a different action: close an the active application window. And sure enough, no problem there it correctly terminated the open program window. Also, to r/o FSUIPC interfering with middle mouse button control, I removed FSUIPC.dll and restarted P3D4.5 and same same, could not get the middle mouse button to fire Shift-O using MS K&M Center's remapping. So, if you have Win10, P3D4.5, and have or can install 64-bit MS Keyboard & Mouse Center (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4051843/accessories-mouse-keyboard-center-download), please test the following in order on your machine: Test 1: 1. Verify Mouse Look is unchecked in FSUIPC5 2. Go to the controls dialogue in P3D. In the Search field on the upper right, type in 'mouse' sans quotes. What will appear in the list of hits will be an Event called: Mouse - control view direction (on/off). I want to say default was Shift + O, but you can change it to whatever key(s) you want. 3. Now, in the VC, hit the key(s) you assigned to Mouse - control view direction (on/off). You should now be able to control view direction 360 degrees with the mouse, with fluid, gently self-centering as you move and pan with your mouse. Are you seeing that? Test 2: (Do only if Test 1 was confirmed you are seeing what I tried to describe as fluid, gently self-centering behavior) 1. With mouse look unchecked still in FSUIPC5, assign the middle mouse button key(s) you assigned to Mouse - control view direction (on/off), to the application-specific remapping of the middle mouse button done in MS Keyboard and Mouse Center (or Intellipoint 8.2 if you have that). 2. Now, in the VC, were you able to toggle control view direction (on/off) with the middle mouse button, so can now pan, zoom, all with the fluid, gently self-centering behavior described? This is what I'm not able to do now since installing P3D 4.5 in a new Win 10 install. It's really much better to be able to pan and zoom w/ one hand and that can only be done with this approach, EXCEPT...by using FSUIPC.... Test 3: 1. Undo mouse remapping by restoring middle mouse button press to default in MS K&M Center. 2. Now check the mouse look checkbox on the MISC tab in FSUIPC5. Do you now see the same fluid, gently self-centering panning you saw above, or is it more the linear, mechanical, and non self-centering panning I'm seeing when using FSUIPC's ML? Pete Dawson kindly responded to this same query over on the P3D forum but he's at a loss to even see the difference, let alone decipher how to restore what I've used since FSX to P3D 3.4. He seems to think what I've described as fluid, gently self-centering as you move and pan as maybe even less desirable than what he's used to. Once you've tried the in-sim version w/ a mouse button press it's not even a contest with FSUIPC's mechanical, linear, non gently self-centering behavior which feels much more natural for lack of a better word. Anyway, thanks in advance and sorry for the massive length but I saw no way to get the details right to try to solve this annoyance.
