October 14, 200619 yr 1) Logbook: Several flights made with flight planner IFR the departure airport is not recorded. Unable to edit logbook. Would like a feature to edit and export logbook and import previous logbook if possible. 2) Every time I click on the radio stack and mouse over to change frequency or a setting in the autopilot area like heading hold or altitude hold, screen freezes for a few seconds, flashes weird colors and then returns to normal. Using updated AII drivers, and full screen mode. Also happens in window mode3) When retracting or deploying landing gear in the jets the sound breaks up and sounds terrible. Using SB blaster live with current drivers and have tries different hardware acceleration setting. All other aircraft sounds like flaps etc are ok.2 and 3 make flying unpleasant .I have sent them on to tell MS, but I do not expect a reply as I believe they only collect info.Any help or tips appreciated.ThanksBill
October 14, 200619 yr Hi Bill,1) Logbook: you can edit the logboek entries. Look in the Learning Center how to do that.2) Every time I click on the radio stack and mouse over to change frequency or a setting in the autopilot area like heading hold or altitude hold, screen freezes for a few seconds, flashes weird colors and then returns to normal. Using updated AII drivers, and full screen mode. Also happens in window modeI have the exact the same problem. See screenshot. Don't have a solution for that. I have already updatet my ATI Catalist drivers (for X700) but with no aval. I hope someone knows what to do to fix this. It really makes flying unpleasant.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158603.jpgJozef K. http://homepages.onsnet.nu/~jkusters/signature.jpg
October 14, 200619 yr Author Jozef,Logbook: I did check the learning center and it says only some of the items can be edited...if you go to the actual logbook in FSX and click the details of an entry you will see that the departure and arrival information cannot be edited. Very few things can be edited which I find strangeScreen: Yes thats exactly the same picture I get and have no idea why. Thanks for the responseBill
October 18, 200619 yr Bill,Did you find a solution for the graphics problem yet? I have meanwhile changed the graphic drivers for the latest Omega, but stil the same problem as soon as I move the mouse pointer over a clickable area on a gauge. This way FSX is unflyable.Jozef K. http://homepages.onsnet.nu/~jkusters/signature.jpg
October 18, 200619 yr Author No I did not find a solution but I noticed it did not happen in windowed mode only in full screen mode. But that was for a short flight so I cant say for sure. Maybe longer flights cause the problem.Maybe something in the drivers as you say and good luck telling anybody about that...its not, no its him, well it could , you know, etc etc :-)Strange we have not seen other ATI users posting similar experiences. Could we be the only two ???? Just have to wait it out. I am back to FS9 for my serious flying and will try FSX when I build up the courage ;-)Bill
October 18, 200619 yr No, you two are not alone. I have the same issue, running an X850 XT 256 MB with the latest Omegas (as well as with standard ATI drivers before that). It seems more pronounced in full-screen mode than in windowed, however. Also occurs, for me, when returning to the game from a dedicated menu screen (e.g., display options, map). Frozen, psychedelic images for a few seconds before the textures reload, and then all's well until the next time I have to leave the game screen. I've speculated 512 MB of video RAM would help, but I'm not sure about that. Anyway, the problem does make me want to avoid leaving the game screen for any reason, as I'm sure you two will attest.
October 18, 200619 yr Author Yes I agree. I seldom mess with the menu as it does tend to mess up for a while. Maybe as you say 512 on the video may help. Will see if others have any inputThanksBill
October 18, 200619 yr You're welcome. By the way, checking this again I think I have to agree that it's an issue with full screen, not with windowed mode. Two things that seem to help are raising AGP Aperture and also increasing PCI latency for the videocard. For the past couple years I had both settings quite low (128 MB Aperture and 34 PCI latency) due to stuttering issues in FS9, but I think they need to be increased for FSX.I hope we can solve this, as I'm not looking forward to flying exclusively in windowed mode...
October 18, 200619 yr I have the same problem. ATI 9600 PRO 256Mb Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
October 18, 200619 yr Running ATI X1900 here with 512, not had the screen issue. Not noticed the logbook issue yet. Can't either, it crashed and wiped out my settings and my logbook. I've also just killed the latest catalyst drivers as somehow they were shutting my PC down.
October 18, 200619 yr Thats a shader problem. X700 is a problem child when it comes to that. You will have to driver shop.
