Error Writing to Settings File

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I get the following error up when loading up Little Navmap:

Caught exception in file "..\littlenavmap\src\main.ccp" line 405.

Error writing to settings file "C:users\(my username)\AppData\Roaming\ABarthel\little_navmap.ini reason 1

Any suggestions? Has worked fine in the past, but no joy lately.

Many thanks in advance!

Looks like Windows updates mess with the permissions from time to time.🙄

Install LNM in another folder like "Desktop", "Documents" or anything in your home folder where you have full access.  Do not move the LNM folder but extract the downloaded archive again to avoid the probably broken permissions.

Do not run LNM as admin. This not needed and not recommended at all.

Rename the folder "ABarthel" in "C:users\(my username)\AppData\Roaming" if above does not help.

Ah yes, I forgot a recent (ish) Windows 10 update caused permission issues. I sorted that problem out eventually (well I hope I have)

Unfortunately those suggestions have not solved the problem. I'm still getting the same errors no matter where I extract the folder.

Any other suggestions I could try?

Many thanks

Maybe the permissions of the Roaming folder are broken. Did you remove or rename the "ABarthel" folder? You can also try to change the permissions in Roaming and give yourself full access.

Apart from that, no idea.☹️

Yep, permissions to the Roaming folder were broken. All solved now.

Many thanks for your help Alex! 😁
