PMDG 747-8 Glitch...?

Featured Replies

Hi!

I need help with a glitch that's really bothering me while flying the 747-8 variant... I have googled around but cannot find any thread regarding the issue...

When I try and rotate and just when I touch down during landing my nose gear glitches and just goes straight down on the ground... no movement.. just like in in 1 microsecond it goes from 10 degrees pitch to 0 degrees... no transition, just glitches back to the ground.

It has done this for the last 5 landings now and I do not know how to fix it... I have updated to the latest version..

Any ideas or if you can link to a thread dealing with this?

Best regards.

This can be caused by an invisible terrain anomaly where there is undulation or spiking of the terrain mesh...the sim sees it as a "crash" into the ground.  If that's what's causing it, often a too-high terrain mesh resolution is behind it...you can try decreasing the mesh resolution a step or two.

For example if your scenery was designed with 5m mesh and you select 2m resolution, the sim will attempt to interpolate the mesh data and sometimes that interpolation process introduces small bumps in the mesh surface that aren't present at the target resolution.

In addition to what Bob Scott has said, if you have ORBX GLOBAL VECTOR installed as well as other addon scenery files, then don't forget to run VECTOR's Auto-Configuration tool to scan your scenery.cfg file for conflicting airport elevations.  According to ORBX, this should be done whenever you install, uninstall, activate or deactivate any addon scenery.
