April 6, 20206 yr I just purchased the Phenom 100 and when I load it in FSX to go flying it crashes FSX. I am getting a warning which means nothing to me, but apparently is the problem. It is from something called: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Debug Assertion Failed! Program: ...icrosoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator, X\Carenavigraph.dll, File: c:\program files (x86)\microsoft visual studio, 12.0\vc\include\xstring, Line 1168 Expression: invalid null pointer For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C== documentation on asserts I hope someone can decipher all of that and give me some idea what to do next. Thank you. Bill
April 6, 20206 yr I would download and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads Luke Pype
April 6, 20206 yr Author Okay, I went to the page you suggested and there are a plethora of different downloads. Again, I'm not a computer guy, so I have no clue which one to download and install. I have windows 7 on a Jetline 3032 computer.
April 7, 20206 yr Author I chose a C++Runtime Library download and then tried to install it. No go. It said the Setup Failed because on one or more issues??? 0x80240017 - Unspecified error
April 7, 20206 yr Is your windows 64 bit? is it fully up to date? that error code can be a few different things related to visual studio, possible corrupted download on last update. have a look through this, some good info on the problem ( I know your not a computer guy, but it explains in steps - how to.) https://appuals.com/fix-0x80240017-unspecified-error/ Luke Pype
April 8, 20206 yr Author Yes it is 64 bit. I assume it's up to date, I get regular windows downloads. Carenado had me download the plane again, which I had already done, and then gave up, prompting me to choose another aircraft from their list. I had noticed elsewhere on this forum that I'm not the only one this has happened to. Carenado apparently just doesn't feel the need to fix this issue.. A shame since it's really well done. I find it odd that this problem only occurs with this, new to me, aircraft. Visual C++, whatever that is, must work just fine with everything else. I will continue to plod through all of this as I have time, as I'm not ready to give up on the Phenom 100. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Bill
April 8, 20206 yr Hope you succeed Bill. was there any solution that other users was able to do to get the plane working? what about on there own forum? ( not sure if they have I don’t deal with them) If the developer know it’s a problem but won’t fix it, it a dead end. But I know others use this plane with no problem...strange. Luke Pype
April 8, 20206 yr Author I believe that the aircraft itself is causing the failure of the Visual C++. I had noticed that after getting the crash and error message after trying to fly the Phenom 100, that my Active Sky Next was not loading all information to the sim, and a few Little Nav Map features were not working. I re-booted the computer and they began working properly again. As long as I don't try to use the Phenom, I'm good. No one else seems to have come up with a solution. I suppose I'll just take another aircraft from Carenado instead, and let it go. A shame really, the Phenom 100 looked really nice.
