X-Plane 11.50b(3to9) - flickering GNS-window

Recommended Posts

I recently  upgraded a test installation to X-Plane 11.50b3 and activated Vulkan. With 11.50b1 and b2, I was not able to get X-plane up and running.

With b3, i get decent 75+ fps, but after pushing back the plugin and restart, I see some strange problems:

1. GNS430 appears in the simulator window and seems to work fine

2. Changing to popout window lets the startup screen form GNS430 flicker like hell. This does not change, if I move the GNS-window out of the X-plane windoww.

I have a Radeon card from 2016 and latest drivers

Any good or bad experiences with Vulkan?

Hi,

We didn't explicitly tried when popped out but I'll let you know.

[update] no problem with Nvidia and latest drivers on our systems.

Can you post the exact driver version, card specs and Windows version? We'll relay this info to the devs.

update: it sounds like a possible driver bug.

The best course of action at this stage is to file a bug report here:

Okay. The X-plane guys say "call the plugin-developer, the problem is 3rd-party related".

So, i am back with a photo:

- RXP GNS430W works fine as long as it is displayed non-windowed

- in pop-out mode, the window is empty/black. Only when moving the window and releasing the mouse-butoon, I see the typical GNS screen for a short moment

- the X-plane original GNS530 works as expected, non-windowed or as a pop-out

- I upgraded to Version 2.4.19

- my AMD drivers are the latest.

I reported this bug to the X-plane developer team and got an answer.

Still no improvement, even with 11.50b6

To give a short feedback:

- Only slight change

- Still pop-out-window is dark, the startup screen is flashing for a short moment when moving the window with the mouse. But still not usable for me

-in normal mode, flickering has improved

- using 11.50b9

-latest beta adreanlin-driver

- and latest RXP GNS430W

Hi,

Just to make sure:

Is this with popped out windows
the ones with the traditional Windows title bar and which are not bounded into the X-Plane main window

or

With popup windows
the ones with no title bar which are displayed only within the boundaries of the main X-Plane window?

I will check, but I think I already have this driver.

Using your wording, i am talking about popped-out window. Indeed, this has a normal windows border with the close-button in it. And yes, I want/MUST push the GNS430W window/screen out of the X-Plane window onto a separate screen.

In fact, in the future, the GNS430W screen should be displayed on a small 3.5in HDMI-display and be mounted in my physical panel with a bezel and buttons or rotary encoders around it.

At the moment - useless. It works only when the GNS430W-screen is inside the X-Plane-window and not popped-out

Hi,

Since the OP, there has been even newer Adrenalin drivers:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-400-series/radeon-rx-400-series/radeon-rx-460

Fixed Issues:

  • On a limited number of displays, launching a game may lead to an intermittent black screen that requires a system reboot to resolve.
  • A TDR or black screen may occur when running the Vulkan test from Geekbench™5.

Known Issues:

  • Some game titles may experience hitching when Instant Replay is enabled on Radeon RX 5000 series system configurations.
  • Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
  • Desktop or In-game corruption may occur intermittently when HDR is enabled.
  • Some users may still experience black screen or system hang issues during extended periods of gameplay. AMD will continue to monitor and investigate reports of these issues closely.
