October 16, 200619 yr Yes.. I just tested it. the proof of concpt. It works like a charm no lag.. nothing. Imagine this. Three 19" LCD Monitors using TripleMatrox2Go for Front view.... and then another PC that has 1 (or 2) LCDs. a 24" monitor for a Left Window View.Install FSX on two PCs.1. Start a MultiPlayer Session. as a Pilot allow others to join you.2. Start a Multiplayer session and Join Pilot 1. Set View as Left.Yup...they are perfect... they fly like they are one.Ofcourse my second PC Dell XPS Gen2 was a dog as far as performance is concerned. But still... It works.I have also compromized on the performance a little bit on my primary PC. I have two settings. 1 for Day and 1 for Night. Day will not have Bloom and 50% of building Autogens .. and 100% trees. Night flying would have the Bloom (I love the bloom.. its awesome)... and low autogens.Ignoring the performance hit.. FSX is an amazing flight sim product. I love the following in FSX1. The water... Simply out of this world.2. Bloom. At night... this is fanatastic.... I love it. Hopefully, DX10 would take this to the Video card and leave the CPU alone.3. Love the cars. Cars on blurry roads is Yuck!.. .but I am sure.. It'll get better.2. Trees. (and higher density autogens)3. High resolution Textures. (I know....ACES went for it and they are getting slammed for this decision... But I am glad that they did provide for high resolution. We can always go lower...but we can never go higher.. so this was a good decision..inspite of hit on performance)4. Smoother Flight5. Missions (More to come on this I am sure)6. Multiplayer (A pleasant surprise, I love it)Others. Nice to have.5. Aircrafts eye candy (VC lightings, Glass reflections, bumps etc)6. Birds and animals.I know, performance is very important and that took a big hit.. But I think we can work around that. :)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 16, 200619 yr Manny, thanks, you just confirmed somthing Ive been wanting to know...the fact that you can connect in Shared Skies via a LAN and not thru the internet! Yes! Now I can build my simple cockpit and have two machines running side by side without the need for a stupid connection to the 'net other than for weather. Also, I agree with you on all points. Hardware will always catch up to software, it just takes time. Thanks again for posting this info,Eric T
October 16, 200619 yr Eric.I actually connected to the Gamespy and did it. But LAN should be possible too. I am taking an early flight tomorrow and won't be back till late Firday. Otherwise I would have test the LAN as well. There was a LAN option there. Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 16, 200619 yr Well..:)It was sheer accident that I discoverd. While building my PC.. I had installed FSX on my old PC and had no intention to activiate but. I was curious about how the phone registraton worked. So tried to register via Phone (option) and it asked for my product code and I entered it and it thew out a number for me to use when I call in. I said sure.. and forgot about it. But the next time I started the FSX in that machine, the stupid thing "called home" and registered it.After I was done with my new machine build ... I tried to register the same FSX. and it did. So I suspect.. they let you install in a couple of machines. Two atleast for sure. :)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 16, 200619 yr That's a good thing to know. Hopefully you won't have to redo your systems to run into any problems reauthorizing, but your setup sounds fun!
