What is the best AI program for FSX?

Featured Replies

Hello Gang!In anticipation of receiving my "pre-ordered" FSX this week, I have been doing some housekeeping of my PC such as updating video drivers, defragging, updating Windows, etc. One of the things that's scaring me to death is "what in the world am I going to do with all my AI"? I have spent countless hours in the last two - three years setting it up the way I wanted and now - - - start over!!!! I was thinking that I might as well just "bite the bullet" and buy a program that could automate all this AI deal for me. The problem is that I don't know which program offers the best looking aircraft, while preserving performance; the best flight models for the AI's, and the most updated / realistic flight plans. I noticed the announcement today on AVSIM's front page about MyTraffic X, but looking at the screenshots carefully, the aircraft look pretty crappy to say the least. Are there any recommendations out there for a good program, freeware or payware, I don't care, as long as it does a good job?I hope that my humble P4 1.7, 1GB of RAM, and NVidia FX 5800 can take the heat and hang in there. Thanks for any advice!Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Müllert

Hi Dennis-Maybe multiplayer?! I find I get twice the performance here.I did just get mytraffic-a nice program-and seems to work well. However with live humans seem to get 2x the performance..http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Dennis, you will have to turn off/dumb down most new stuff to get flyable frame rates unfortunately. 1GB of RAM itself is eaten up by just FSX and Windows XP easily. And a 128MB video card doesn't leave room for Higher Res textures. Unfortunately a fast CPU is a noticable change as well.

The 'World of AI' aircraft perform perfectly, from what I've seen so far. The new installer that is needed, and most of the AI packages are available here in the file library, otherwise go to www.world-of-AI.com for the complete list. Just copying the aircraft folders, and traffic BGL's from the Project AI system (if you have it installed in FS9) seems to work OK too, though there are a a couple of small texture problems here; there's no mention at their site yet of an FSX installer yet. Both of these AI packages are free, and are of good quality; World of AI uses some excellent aircraft models, but is light on frames rates!Hope this helps....

>World of AI uses some excellent aircraft models, but is light>on frames rates!>Hope this helps....I've been using WoAI on FS9 and likewise the transfer to FSX is seamless. And I'd say the FR for these AI is better than the default FSX ones.
