FS9 and FSX

Featured Replies

Quick question--just received FSX from amazon this evening...is there any issue with loading FSX and keeping FS9 as well--assuming adequate storage space. I've read a few posts where folks who install FSX then try to go back to FS9 have had some issues (apparently the FSX demo version modified FS9 registry). Like most, I've got lots of Fs9 add-ons and also operate exclusively on-line VATSIM/squawkbox 3.1. I'd like the capability to switch back and forth.ThanksRakeAMD FX-60 dual coreNvidia 7950 GX2 1GB video card4GB ultra low latency RAMRaptor 150GB HD 10000rpmDell 24" wide screen

I have both FSX and FS2004 running the same drive on my machine with no issues.

I have no trouble running both FS9 and FSX on the same computer. I have them bothed installed and they both run fine. Here is the problem I found. After FSX was installed, I could no longer install applications like Squawkbox 3. That program looks in the register to find out if FS9 is installed. So, while FS9 still worked, I had trouble installing addons into FS9 that looked in the registry to find out of it was installed.I uninstalled FS9 and re-installed it. I can now installed addons into FS9 and FSX still works. Not sure if I ruined my ability to install addons into FSX yet though.Hope this helps, even a little bit.

Yeah a BIG ISSUE.I have this overwhelming urge to delete FSX:-lol Nah been running both back and forth and have seen no wierdness.

Thanks for the insights...I'm curious if running the FS9 registry repair tool would solve the issue of adding add-ons to FS9 once FSX is loaded without having to uninstall/reinstall FS9?CheersRake
