GTN 750 support of heli nav database (resolved)

Recommended Posts

Hi

Do anybody know if RXP GTN 750 supports the nav_heli_db2.bin?

For GTN to take use of this database, it has to be told to use Jeppesen database and use a rotorcraft setup.
It is not enough to just rename the nav_heli_db2.bin into nav_db2.bin. Then heli approaches will become unavailable.

If anyone would like to test it for me, I can give you a download link to cycle 1809 (db included in GTN Aviation Trainer 2400).

Hi,

I'll have to review this but IIRC:

The RXP GTN auto-detects by default which kind of aircraft your flying in order to pick up the aircraft icon appropriately. If it is a helicopter, it will also run in 'helicopter' mode.

Then you can select which DB included with the GTN trainer you'd like to use.

Thanks for your reply.

If I run the simulator in windows, I have to choose Jeppesen and Rororcraft to aquire helicopter approaches.

I can't make it work in F1 GTN 750, so I wonder if it works with RXP?
With F1 I can choose Jeppesen, but I can't choose Rotorcraft. Only a "4-bladed rotorcraft" option that only gives me a helicopter icon on the map.
It's not a true rotorcraft setup like when I run it in Windows. In Windows it chooses the nav_heli_db2 database, but F1 uses a shortcut to nav_db2.

Is it possible to make RXP use the nav_heli_db2 database?

Hi again.

I am now an owner of RXP GTN750.

The RXP GTN 750 uses the nav_db2 and not the nav_heli_db2...
So I can't load the heli approaches and transitions I need.

In the manual page 11 it looks like you can force the use of the helicopter database (Americas Rotor (Jepp.)).
But i can't find a way to fix this in the .ini file or any other place.
I have a helicopter icon on the map, but that's it.

I thank you for choosing Reality XP!

You have to select the correct database in the GUI Settings Panel.

I found the GUI settings panel and selected the database i need.

By using different database cycle in nav_heli_db2 and nav_db2, I can confirm that RXP GTN 750 chooses the correct database!!
So it is no problem to take use of the helicopter database 🙂

But there is something else. There is still many procedures it will not load. It finds the Heliport, but no associated procedures.
If I run GTN 750 i Windows with the same nav database, all the procedures are present.
Seems like every procedure wich includes RF-legs are hidden. That's strange since it's all there when you run it in Windows.
