help, I dont think this is right

I installed FSX Deluxe without any problems but the graphics are ho hum, the world looks good but the airplanes look very pixelized. Frame rates are around 10FPS with sliders approximately in the middle of all positions.Hardware included HP 3.0GhZ CPU, 2GB RAM, XFX 7950 X2 GPU. FS9 runs an average 24-30FPS on this machine with most sliders set to max. Does this sound right and why the bad looking airplanes? Any advice is appreciated.

Did you change the global texture slider (increase it)?

That worked, thanks. Do you know of any general guidelines for setting up graphics detail for good resolution and frame rates for FSX yet?
