What am I doing wrong?

Featured Replies

Frustrating I tell ya. Ok so I spend all this money getting what I think is some bad AZZ system and my frames are only like 7 on FSX. Now in FS9 I could get up around 18 or 19 but I hear people of getting like 25 to 30 and I think maybe I am asking for to much. But heres the deal I got a AMD 4200+ 64 dual core. 4 Gigs of DDR2 Ram win XP which I know only uses about 3 of the 4 gigs available. I got a X1900 GTX video card with 256 DDR3. I make sure my software and devices have all of the latest drivers and I also use tweakguides to tweak my system down to basically nothing so I can play this SIM and enjoy it with a reasonable amount of smoothness and visual enjoyment. I use the tweakguides I find in here but don't ya think that after spending like 2 Grand in hardware that you would have descent framerates? Why are they putting out these products that even the best computers run good but can never be maxed out? Any help or places I can go to get the ultimate guide or something? Or any ideas as to what can be the problem? Thanks

Nothing you are doing wrong.I have been able to try out alot of different very high end hardware rigs and nothing can run FSX even at mid range settings without the fps dipping into the low teens. However, even though the fps is low I am getting a very smooth, stutter free ride.Loads times are 10-20 sec and view changes are instant.Ive played with the intel duo x6800 and 7950gtx vid card with gobs of ram but my system runs fsx without any noticable differnce.Amd-FX-62-M2N32 Deluxe mob,2 gigs Kingston HyperX,7900gtx,Raptor 150. Sys is tweaked and OCed.But I know what you are saying. There just is not something right with the graphics engine. Ive tried all the mods and tweaks and while they do help, it seems to take brute horsepower and overkill to get any kind of performance. My system eats Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter,Fear and other known computer killers for lunch without even a grunt.Yet throw some cookie cutter, lego looking houses even with their textures reduced by 1/2, and my computer starts to run out of breath.Bottom line is that if you can afford a system simular to mine or if you are willing to that is, you can run FSX and enjoy it and settings that make it look really good. Now throwing in some of the much anticipated paywares coming up and I have serious doubts how anyone is going to be able to run it.

You're not doing anything wrong. It was the wrong decision of the developers to design a sim that will be ready to run well in three years and sell it to you today.

WEll thank God its not just me. Thats my main point is that I don't have a WHOPPER sitting in my basement to run a SIM. Why even release they should have just tweaked out FS9 with textures and physics or something. Thanks fellas
