Weather themes randomly change in P3Dv4

I'm hoping someone can help diagnose an issue I've been having lately in P3Dv4.    Out of the blue my weather theme will change, usually to either the "heavy snow" or "gray and rainy" themes. 

I've tried all kinds of testing before posting here and it happens all the time.   Whether I'm running Active Sky or not, whether I'm in a default weather theme (clear skies) or in the User Defined theme, or the ActiveSky weather theme.  It has happened while flying, and while paused, and it happens no matter where I am as I've landed at Honolulu with winter textures.  Sometimes this is even accompanied by a complete scenario reset to the default "helicopter basics" scenario   That's when it becomes really annoying.

Has anyone seen this before, or have a clue as to what I can try to remedy it?
