Help moving the F1 PC12 to FSX

Featured Replies

Hi simmers,I am trying to copy the files of the F1 PC-12 to FSX. I moved all the files I can find in the FS9 directly and set it up in the FSX directory. Everything is find except that the VC has no textures, just the gauges on the white background. What am I doing wrong here? I am ready to hear any advice. Thnx. This is what my VC looks like in FSX.

Many of the textures common to the PC-12 which don't change with individual repaints are stored in the main texture folder and not in the individual repaint folders with the aircraft. Personally I'm just going to wait for the upgrade/patch/update/what-ever-ya-call-it but I understand wanting to fly it right now in FSX ;).

Will replicating the main cockpit textures in each of the repaint folders work? If that's what I need to do, I wouldn't mind sacrifice extra disk space.

Yes, put all the VC textures in the main texture folder and in each aircraft texture folder. I'm still missing a few minor things like a texture on the gear handle for example, not sure how to get that. My biggest problem is I have no EFIS...all the other gauges work except for the EADI and the EHSI. I get some arrows on the engine instruments too. How'd you get all the gauges to work properly?Jeff

I think it is some kind of licensing issue. Did you install FSX on the same machine as FS9?

Yeah, I sure did. Is that a problem? I still use FS9 religiously till all the kinks are worked out of X.Jeff

Yes. That's what I did. Now everything works.Worst comes to worest, do a re-install from the original download with the your license key files.

Hi there. I tried to install it with the original installer into FSX and it says it is not a valid path to Flight Simulator. So I moved everything over manually and the gauges don't work. Did you get it to work in FSX while you still have it working in FS9, or is it one or the other? Thanks.Jeff

Yes. I did, with small abnormalies. There are 5 gauge files. The reason you want to install through the downloaded installer is that it register one or more of the gauges in the system registry and I don't know what the entry names are. However, you should be able to install in the FSX directory. All the installer is looking for is fs9.exe which FSX comes with one.

Hmm, ok...I only found 3 gauge files, so that could be part of the problem. I've tried about 5 times now running the installer, with no joy. All it says is this is not a valid path to FS or something along those lines. I'll double check tomorrow morning to see if my FSX folder has an FS9.exe in it. If not, I'll copy it over and try the installer again. Thanks again, talk to you later.Jeff
