How and where do you install...............

Hi!How and where do you install addon aircraft, modules (such as FSUIPC,etc)in FSX?I got my Deluxe FSX copy today, installed it and tried to installaddon aircraft, but they didn't show up in the sim.I use MRAI's Traffic View Board in my FS9 and enjoy it a lot andwanted to use it in my FSX, but no go.So, tips on this will be greatly appreciated..........Thanks beforehand.Hans HermanssonSweden

Not totally au fait with where every possible add-on goes as yet, but I can tell you that aircraft can be added to the folder 'Airplanes' nested in the 'Sim Objects' folder in your FSX folder.Scenery additions follow the same procedure they always did by and large. VFR scenery seems to work okay, some airport add-ons which were produced for FS9, 8 etc, will go in, but the results are invariably shaky at best, and most often somewhat disappointing, for example, the Brize Norton free scenery which was on a disk from PC Pilot fairly recently goes into FSX, even takes advantage of light bloom effects, but the static aircraft in the scenery do not render properly. With older aircraft, results vary, from not bad to unusable, for example, you can place the Cessna Caravan 208 folder from FS9 straight in there and it won't even overwrite the installed landplane versions of the Caravan in FSX, as they are in a '208B' folder. The FS9 one flies as expected in FSX too, all the stuff works as far as flaps, gear and control surfaces go, but the virtual cockpit and 2D panels do not render well, or in some cases at all. Although you might, and I stress 'might' be able to copy over a 2D panel from an FSX Caravan and get that to work. Not tried it though. The virtual cockpit however will be a no-go as the VC is a named object linked to the exterior model when you produce it, and it has clearly not followed some conventions required for FSX, probably the guages, as they seem to be far better rendered in FSX than in FS9.You might also have noticed that the new MiG 15 package announcd on AVSIM's front page is FSX compatible, as are a few other recent releases.
