Difference between LVL CHG and ALT INTV during VNAV descent

Recommended Posts

I'm confuse between the two. During descent, I usually set the altitude via ALT INTV, but sometimes the plane doesn't response to ALT INTV but response to LVL Change instead.

Need help to understand the difference.

ALT INTV (Intervention) lets you delete the next FMC altitude constraint when your autopilot is in VNAV. So if you think about it, the 'intervention' part of the name of the function kind of explains what it does, i.e. it is intervening to override a constraint, but...

Have a read of THIS in section 4.10.10. It will explain exactly how you use it.
