New monitor or new GPU to get the best performance (Microsof

Featured Replies

Hello,

As many of you, I’ve just made the upgrade of my PC, mainly for incoming Microsoft Flight Simulator release. My current specs are:

CPU: Intel i7 10700K

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z490 AORUS ELITE AC

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16

GPU: EVGA GeForce 1080 Ti

Monitor: Philips BDM4065UC 40 inch 4k monitor

I am wondering about the overall performance I can get in this setup. I know that 4K monitor significantly decreases performance (despite I have 1080 Ti). However flying on 40 inch monitor is great experience.

I am thinking, which route should I go to gain extra performance, I have 3 options:

1.      Stay with 1080 Ti and Philips BDM4065UC 4K monitor and see how MFS will perform. However I am worried about the performance

2.      Stay with 1080 Ti and get rid of 4K monitor and buy 1440P. I am thinking about 2 monitors:

         a) Samsung 49" CRG90

         b) AOC 34" CU34G2X

My concern is that what about 21:9 ratio instead of 16:9 in flight simming? Is the immersion better or worse? I suppose that for gaming Samsung 49’ CRG90 is great, but is it good for flight simming?

3.      Stay with 4K monitor and wait patiently for 3080/3080Ti? But the big question is, will the performance of this card with 4K monitor will be as good as flying in MFS on High/Ultra settings.

I will appreciate you help and suggestions.

Best,

Arek

If it is performance you are concerned about more than anything else, then repeat after me...
