October 24, 200619 yr So if the version I now have is 9.0c and the new one (so it seems) is 9.0c. How do I know they are really different? Again, I downloaded 9.0c 2 months ago. If they are different why isnt the new 9.0d or something?ThanksBob
October 24, 200619 yr Im not sure you can really tell the difference. I updated mine recently and then tried the one described in the initial post and can see no difference in performance. Im thinking that he may have been using 9.0b. Craig
October 24, 200619 yr I'm not quite sure but doesnt FSX install DirectX if needed? If so, he would have gotten 9.0c from the install of FSX. Bob

October 25, 200619 yr Robin and Rick,To Robin: Thanks for the tips... encouraging those of us with middling systems (the majority of simmers) to give FSX a go. Also, thanks for your many contributions to all those GreaT NZ sceneries. Your sceneries do much to bring back the amazing experiences my family had traveling about your beautiful islands a few years ago.To Rick: Last week, I went through the whole DX update rigamarole you described. I, too, have had to do this several times in the past. But, you know... (This is embarrassing) I just did it. I wasn't even consciously irritated. That's sad. Remember "Newspeak" from Orwell's "1984"? {Newspeak: the artificial language invented and, by degrees, imposed by the Party to limit the capacity to express or even think "unorthodox" thoughts. Wikipedia) Has Microsoft so thoroughly indoctrinated me that I now accept such treatment like a sheep... going to slaughter? Rick, your post today brought me back, at least a little, to a sane world. Thanks, I needed that.Rob
