October 25, 200619 yr I finally got my copy of FSX Deluxe today. Put the Disk 1 in the drive and 25 minutes later it was installed AND activated. Yippee!By default the sliders were set way too low and everything looked horrible at my home airport. I've been gradually kicking the sliders to the right and things are looking better and, so far, frame rates haven't dropped. My two big disappointments so far are the desert textures here in upstate NY, and the missing Mohawk River. The river is a huge part of the scenery and a valuable VFR cue. In FS2004 it stopped at Fonda, NY. In FSX it doesn't even go that far, it ends just west of Schenectady. Can't wait for Ultimate Terrain to be converted so I can get my river back.Overall, I'm pleased with FSX. The flight dynamics do seem much better although I've only flown the 172 so far.Now I'm off to try the tweaks and give the FSG Landclass a try.Happy flying!Jim
October 25, 200619 yr whoa! another upstater! I'm from Rome..but living in Florida now. I can't believe ACES left out the Mohawk river! yet another reason to hold off on FSX.Mike

I can't believe ACES left out the Mohawk river! yet>another reason to hold off on FSX.LOL, that's a reason not to get it????!!! oh my!One thing I noticed tonight which is really cool, is I took off from KDFW and I was actually able to follow the road (121) out of the airport and to my house, even had traffic on it, pretty cool! Ladclass was all wrong, but I'm not gonna complain, LOLRegards, MichaelKDFW Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI-x16 / AMD Best, Michael KDFW
October 25, 200619 yr Checking in from Elmira...I've found that what many users have reported as "desert" textures in inappropriate places actually seems to be an attempt to show grass that has gone dormant for the winter. Try changing the season to mid-summer, and I think you'll see that many "desert" areas in the northeast and midwest will change to bright green.Of course, those of us who live here in the northeastern U.S. know that mown grass in cultivated areas (pastures, lawns, airports etc.) is still pretty green even in late October... it doesn't really become seriously brown until much later in the winter.Jim Barrett Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. October 25, 200619 yr Try the FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION tweak, apparently it's really impressing a lot of simmers, including myself!James
