MSFS 2020: Xbox one X verses PC?

Featured Replies

I realise that this may be a difficult question to answer. I will be purchasing MSFS 2020 (just for fun). However my old PC, which is quite adequate for my daily tasks will not be able to handle MSFS 2020.

So, I will have to decide on a new PC including monitor,an xBox one x or an xBox Series x.

I have read the min. Spec. to ideal Spec.

Now my question: How do the xBoxes in question compare to the PC Spec?

Or to put it another way: Which is the wisest choice?

Thanks for any info that you are willing to pass on!

David

Well. There is the most obvious issue of not being able to upgrade. While the initial cost of a PC is higher than an XBOX depending what you get. But that also means that you can update your components as time goes on.

Here is what shows for an XBOX Series X SPECS on google

Quote
Processor 8-core AMD Ryzen Zen 2-architecture CPU at 3.7-3.8GHz
Video memory 16GB GDDR6 with 14Gbps 320-bit interface (10GB at 560GB/s allocated to GPU, 6GB at 336GB/s allocated to rest of system with 3.5GB for GPU)
Storage 1TB NVMe SSD; proprietary 1TB SSD add-on module; USB 3.2 external HDD support

Which while has a lot of interesting things like the 1TB SSD. The Processor seems clocked at a really low number 3.8GHZ. To give you an example MY SPECS are

Quote

i7 6700K 4.6 GHZ | 64GB RAM at 2667 GHZ | 967GB of Memory (1TB HD WD, (2) 480GB SSD Cards, 512GB M2 SSD) | GTX1080TI 11GB RAM|

So all of those components I slowly bought for my PC and now I have a future proof system that I can invest into getting a new Video Card once the generations continue to improve. Also the Processor I could update to a new one if I wanted. I am not sure what an XBOX offers for upgradability so I wont comment on it. But I hope that gives you an idea of what to expect with an XBOX vs a PC. At the end of the day what gets impacted is the performance and the add-ons you can use. For example I am not sure what weather add on will be developed for MSFS by HIFI or REX or another developer that we may see come into the industry. They might not be compatible with a XBOX so all of those things you need to take into consideration.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your knowledge. Now I have the xBox series x specs and can do the comparisons myself. It is not going to be an easy choice and it will boil down to either a dedicated xBox for MSFS 2020 or a complete new PC. I see your point about the add-ons not being conpatible the the xBox. That would be a shame. Maybe someone else has further information on this point! Do you know if a purchased MSFS runs on either an xBox or a PC or are they dedicated to those machines?
