problem with FS2004 planes going to white screen in FSX fog

Featured Replies

Everytime I fly any of my FS2004 planes in FSX, everything works fine, till I hit a low visibility layer, my 2D side views go solid white and my spot plane goes white unless I leave the low visibility layer or fog. Anyone having this issue?I can briefly see the views for a split second then its all white.Tower view will actually still see the plane in the low visibility, but the other views go white. Is there a HARDWARE render option in the graphics settings that must be turned off? or its my system.I have a Geforce 7950GT

I guess I need to just use fair weather everytime I use an FS2004 aircraft for the meantime.I cant seem to find any other people with this issue with searching for the issue.

Yeah, I had the same problem one morning in Chicago, with some RealAir airplanes imported from fs2004. I've got an nVidia 6800 GT. Haven't figured out a solution myself, either.

Well the temporary solution is to never fly into low visibility layers set below 10milesI noticed only one FS2004 airplane would work fine, a freeware F4 phantom, I notice that the planes that will have the issue appear with a white screen in the aircraft selection box, where it should show the plane rotating.I unchecked and lowered all settings on graphics, but it still happens. I will just use static real-world scenery for now and avoid the sudden zero visibility when I approach a runway and want to look at my wingview.

Have the same trouble.Aardvark is O.K. but I have tried a couple of aircraft (Aardvark & FSP), manually or via the World of AI installer, and up to now the trouble is with FSP related aircraft. Tried to altered the texture map to DTX3 without success.Hope somebody out there can find a solution.Christiaan

I thought DTX3 was the texture that would not work. but I checked carefully that my F4 is DTX3 format, and my other models are 32bit and some are even DTX3 and dont display on the menu or during zero visibility other than the forward 2D cockpit. so it kinda rules out the texture format being an issue?

Christiaan again,I also downloaded the new Malev 737-800 FSX yesterday. I ticked my aircraft on just to see if it showed up normally before I ticked to go to an airport. No, it was completly white. So it is not a scenery problem. Why does Aardvark work and the others not. Very strange.Christiaan

I am sure so many do have this problem and dont bother or even notice it yet, cause most are not flying in visibility layers lower than 5m right now :)They are too busy fixing FPS and tweaking the sim, than the texture or appearance issue.I also was glad that when I selected THUNDESTORMS, WINTER, RAIN etcfrom the weather menu (I dont usually select the weather themes) butthe planes dont go to white in that visibility. They only get affectedin the fog theme, or if I customize a visibility layer on the groundset at 5m or lower. But I am glad I can enjoy the thunderstorm andrain/snow themes without it happening and still get low visibility..this is really messed up.But I will be patient and wait for FSX versions of planes to come outand maybe hopefully see what the real reason is behind my left/right and back view going white as well as spot view in a low visibility layer.

Light Bloom was what was causing itI have to disable Light Bloom option if I want to use my FS2004 planes in any condition.

Where can I find Light Bloem?Wll it effect my FS2004 or other none FS related files?Christiaan

in FSXgo to display options, its on the first page next to setting global texture size. you see three boxes, light bloom, rendering, etc.uncheck the light bloom box inside FSX graphic display settings.Find it?

Light Bloom was already by default unchecked.I loaded the Lufthansa & British airways World of Install for FSX , The problem is still there, are far as I can see it seems to occur with FSP Airbus 330/340 aircraft. Aardvark & Evolveai are perfect. The Fsp 777 from BA takes longer to upload it's textures and is alright except for having white wheels.Maybe it's the aircraft from FSP which is not compatable with FSX, in FS2004 there is no trouble. I have the DXT download programto remove the mips, no difference.I have a lot of payware aircraft for FS2004 (PMDG,PSS etc)wondering what will happen there when they eventually make a patch for FSX.Up to now I am extremly dissapointed in FSX. I am glad I still have my FS2004.Thanks for your replies to try and find us a solution,Christiaan

I have not tested AI jets and FSpainter stuff yet, butI am referring to a SOLID WHITE SCREEN, not white textures. the entire sim screen except for the top menu portion becomes completely white.I seem to still get an issue when the 2D panel may dissappear now in low visibility even if light bloom is unchecked, even I still can get the entire views back instead of annoying solid white screens.
