Anyone have FSHotSFX working with FSX? Looking for ideas...

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,I'm a long-time lurker, and this site is one of my daily stops. A quick thanks to you all for having such a great community here.Anyway, I'm desperately trying to get FSHotSFX to work with FSX. I'm one of those "AI fanatics" who probably enjoys planespotting at the busy airports almost as much as flying itself. I'm chomping at the bit here to get those lovely AI engine spool-ups, howling thrust reversers, and the roar of jets taking off from far away....all the cool things that FSHotSFX brings, into FSX to make the airports come alive again like I had it in FS9.I've checked the FSHotSFX (or FSHotSeat) support forums repeatedly, and I seriously think these guys took their money and headed off to a non-extradition country some time ago, so I think it's safe to say the software won't be updated.Anyone have any luck? I would really appreciate any help or insight. Thanks in advance,GG

Hi,It's no longer needed. You can add a soundai folder into each plane's folder and create an individual sound package for each plane. Works much the same as the regular sound folder. Check the SDK (disk 1 of the Deluxe edition) or a default aircraft for the details.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Ah, I didn't realize that. I'll have to start playing around with the AI sounds and see how it works.Thank you Tom!

I'm going to miss the other sounds that FSHS provided though..... turbulent wind sounds during flap deployment and gear deployment along with the sounds of shifting and general turbulence within the aircraft in rough weather. Braking sounds are another element that have always been conspicuously absent in the sim.Hope some developer will take up the challenge, continue their idea, and create a great add-on sound package to complement FS9, FSX.

Hmmm, looks like the individual sound folders for each aircraft isn't enough of a substitute for FSHotSFX.For example, the program will allow you to hear AI aircraft from up to 3 NM away (with doppler effects), yet limit that to 10 AI so that you don't get a performance hit. That's just one feature of many that really elevates the AI aircraft experience for me when you're hanging around on the tarmac.I really hope these guys update the program. Judging by their support forums, I'm definitely not the only one who misses being able to use it in FSX.
