August 25, 20205 yr If you're buying a CPU mainly for gaming and FS2020 at this time the 3600 / 3600x is the best mid range, MSFS2020 doesn't use that many cores so if you're looking for a decently priced all rounder that is the one to go for, in the future DX12 should allow more CPU usage than just a few cores it's using now so if you really need a CPU now and wanted to be somewhat prepared for a little while the 3700x is the next best option.
August 25, 20205 yr I'm running with a Ryzen 3700X @ 4.2GHz with 16GB of 3200MHz Ram, an RTX 2070 Super at 1440p and a 300Mbps Download, 30Mbps upload connection and I'm quite happy with the performance on the whole. I'm running most settings at Ultra and the rest at High and I'm getting about 50 fps in most situations. Drops to about 35fps over London with the ORBX city pack installed but still feels pretty smooth. Usually shows CPU at between 50-80% and GPU at 70- 98%. I get the occasional stutter when moving into a big built up area but it's only a fraction of a second. I get the feeling the Ryzen 3700X is coping quite well with the sim so far, the limiting factor is the GPU. I am considering getting another 16GB of Ram but I think I'll leave it for a bit, see how things fare after a few patches.

I thought Tom's was considered to be among the best back then. The original Tom's was sold in 13 years ago, 2007, and I think it has become just another run-of-the-mill testing site, however, it has managed to stay online so that says something.
