FSX - multiplayer questions

Featured Replies

I did my first MP sessions yesterday and today and I am blown away. However, I have some questions:1) If I host a session, do I have any possibility of kicking someone out? There are so many rude and careless people who join. I know I can password a session, but I just want to be able to kick players who won't comply with ATC instructions.2) is there a trick to the volume? The volume is crackling and low at times. Also, when I ATC, people complain that my volume is low. This happens despite the fact that I have the volume jacked up to the point of feeding backthanks...

Go to your FS sound settings, turn up Voice all the way to 100 and turn everything else way down, now you've gotta experiment quite a little bit here but values between 10 and maybe 40 might be sufficient. Then turn up your speakers a bit. Also, if temporaraily voice is REALLY low, you might want to turn off your FS sound completely by pressing Q, this will however retain voice communication. :)Etienne

Thanks Etienne,I actually did each thing you suggested. I think there are bandwidth issues with using voice and hosting a session. I'll next try limiting a session to fewer participants. There is a tips and tricks entry on multi-player, but it seems to focus on lowering graphics settings to assist in voice quality. Since multi-player likely only sends position information for each player and other information to sync their environment to mine, I can't see how graphics settings matter. I know they graphics will bog the machine down, but I have a dual core Intel Core 2 E6800 - that' s a pretty hefty processor right now.Are there any others thoughts anyone might have on this matter?

okay, I'll reply to my own question number 1:There is what the Learning Center says about multiplayer sessions:

Removing Players from Multiplayer SessionsA multiplayer host can remove any player from the session. To remove a player from a multiplayer sessionIf you're in a session, exit to the Briefing Room. Click the X next to the player's name in the Players list. Click Fly Now to rejoin the session.
none of this seems to be available when hosting a multi-player session through gamespy.I can't "exit to the briefing room" I can only end flight. There is no "X" next to the players name in the Players list.I can't then hit "fly now."
