August 25, 20205 yr I did see a storm chaser thread but couldn't find it using the search function.🤔 Anyhoo... I was watching Chris Packham's interesting 'Nature's Weirdest Events' on the BBC, and heard about Catatumbo Lightning. This place in Venezuela experiences lightning storms most nights of the year, so much so that the local fishermen use it to guide themselves home in the evenings. So, if the current raft of storms in the world aren't enough for you, this might be a place to visit from time to time. Just take off from La Chinita International Airport (SVMC) near the mouth of Lake Maracaibo, or leave Juan Pablo Pérez Alfonzo Airport (SVVG) and head north over the lake. Only tried it once myself and there was nothing to be seen, but it may be worth a shot for lightning junkies.
