My Local Airport A- Thrilled

Featured Replies

So for any GA pilots out there sitting on the fence because of the small number of handcrafted airports, I have just gotten started with MSFS after a system failure and new build.  So my first entry into MSFS was to position myself on a runway where I could get an overall view of my most frequented airports.  This screen capture is sitting at Rwy 35 at KBMG, Bloomington, Indiana, USA, an airport for which I created an FSX/P3D addon, working through a learning curve in ADE.  This MSFS depiction brought tears to my eyes.  Not perfect. But highly representative.  The tower and those strange overly tall hangars do not match, but the overall character is excellent.  The hangars do not look like that  in all views, so I expect that is a library issue to be corrected. If that comes to be then when an ADE equivalent emerges for  MSFS I will likely not attempt an edit.

Alas! my other base of operations did not fare near as well.  No screen shot.  The tower is nicely in place and the  buildings outside the airport perimeter look representative.  But the airport itself is not well represented.  The number of hangars and other buildings is is very low compared to real life.  KESN was included in Orbx Global Airport pack (freeware) so I hold out home Orbx will follow with MSFS.

So you may win, or your may lose.
