Got it running older PC (SEA-RNO with a fly over TVL)

Amazingly FS2020 is starting to work a bit better.  Not sure if Microsoft is poking around the back end of the program or what but this time last week it was constant CTD.  Now only seems to CTD about half the time when I launch it.  I have yet to determine what causes the random CTD's and sometimes it launches and I can fly successfully but again its not happening as much!

I believe a lot of the problems are my older system.  Still have not decided to build or buy a new system or just upgrade this one?  Considering how well it runs and looks on my system even with minimal settings I am thinking of increasing my RAM to 16GB and going for a faster budget card and worrying about a new build later when hardware gets a little faster.  Any card worth a darn now days has to be better then my GTX 650 2GB video card from 2012 era.  I also don't currently have an SSD card.  Not sure if its really critical or not?  I only noticed a random pause about 2 seconds long when trying to land in a bigger city.  My first guess is an SSD would not do that but then on several You Tube videos I have seen it still occasionally happens on faster systems with an SSD.

The rest of my system not that bad.  I7 4770K and currently 8 GB of ram with 2 fast for the time 1TB hard drives.

At first with all the CTD's I wanted to throw this piece of software out the window and slap the 1st Microsoft employee I can run into and we have plenty of them right in the neighborhood.  However now that I have completed my first successful flight it was such a dream having a flight simulator that came close to VR quality I can't go back to P3D or FSX now.  I say give it time and as system speeds improve and 3rd party developers make more entertaining and functional airplanes this sim will rock.  Every sim in the past was the same song and dance.  First we all hated it then as it matured it become a part of our life!

Anyways my first successful flight was in the King Air 350.  I took off from SEA and headed south experiencing all the mountains.  Even from 17,000 ft things looked pretty good and at that altitude  Lakes and mountains very accurately detailed.  Amazingly my performance at 17,000 ft is as good as any even on my antique machine.  I am currently not running with any clouds showing in fear it will choke my system even further but I am sure I can add a few at altitude at least.  I decided to deviate my course and do a quicky scenic flight over Lake Tahoe.  Even though my settings are about as low as they can get it looked far better then any previous sim I have played.  I set up an approach into TVL airport.  Only when I got close to the mountains my system started to choke out a bit.  My audio started sputtering and trying to use the mouse to change views was a bit of a disaster.  Amazingly game play was still okay as long as I did not change views.  I did a pass over TVL and then headed back out over the lake and headed to RNO.

RNO looked "OKAY" but some of the anomalies i noticed I hope is from my low settings?  For example the downtown hotels looked more like Stonehenge but the airport was alright for a default airport.  It could still use the 3rd party treatment but its better then RNO's in the past.  Still have not figured out how to map my trusty CH Flightstick joystick but did a successful landing at RNO airport using the keyboard.  Overall pretty satisfied with the experience and only on final into RNO airport I experienced a delayed micro stutter in the 1 to 2 second range.

Tomorrow if I don't get plagued with CTD's I plan to do RNO-ELK-SLC.  If I can grow to except this software I think just about everyone eventually can!
