21:9 resolution isse

Featured Replies

Hi all:

So I have a 21:9 ultrawide monitor that I am using fs2020 on. I am getting alright frame rates, but the biggest hit to my FPS I believe is coming from the resolution which is set to 3440x1440. My issue is that there is no lower 21:9 resolution available.

Is it possible for me to set the config files so I could play the game in a 16:9 aspect ration with the height staying at 1440? I changed the settings in usercfg to 2560 x 1440, but that gets stretched on my monitors.

Looking for tips on how to display 2560 x 1440 without stretching. By that I mean, there will be black borders on the left and right, but I would get better fps.

TIA.

Maybe use in-game scaling?

Otherwise,

You’ll need setting up custom resolutions.

Or AMD perhaps?https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh-032

You can set it to 2560 x 1440 (16:9) but make sure your monitor or gpu software doesn’t stretch the image to your wide screen (21:9).

If stretched or distorted:

https://www.nvidia.com/content/Control-Panel-Help/vLatest/en-us/mergedProjects/nvdsp/CS_Display_Scaling.htm

You set it to aspect ratio or no scaling.

If that won’t work your monitor is stretching the image in which case you need to refer to the manual of the monitor.

If you fly AMD there should be a similar setting for not stretching image.

You can switch the resolution in the Nvidia Control panel to 2556 x 1440, and than switch to the same resolution in the sim
Thay way you a black bars at the sides so nothing is stretched.

You can even do this "on the fly" (pun intended), so you can test what looks best

Correct, but 2560 x 1440. 😊

I run 21:9 as well, and it does challenge my 980Ti a bit.   I'd second the suggestion to use the in-sim scaling factor.   I have mine currently set to 70 and it dramatically improves performance with hardly any noticeable effect on my 34" ultra-wide other than a little fuzzing of cockpit textures.

Aside from that, yeah, use the Nvidia settings to force a 16:9 resolution on your monitor.  (But why?   You have the ulta-wide, use it 😄 )

My 1080ti is struggling in cities lol.

Do you not notice very visible reduction in graphics quality when you use the scaling option?

Thanks everyone for your help. Looks like it is possible to run 2560x1440, I will read up all the links you have posted.

No, not really, not on my 34" panel, anyway.   The only notable effect was the slight fuzzing of cockpit textures that I noted.   But it's not nearly bad enough to be problematic for me, and it's worth it for me to be able to have ultra buildings and 200 terrain LOD.
