October 30, 200619 yr Ok fs2004 but now most of the new PCs have the widescreen view, does FSX take advantage of this ratio and we'll see all the panel/gauges and scenery with right aspect ratio?Andy
October 30, 200619 yr The display doesn't appear at all stretched in VC mode to me. Everything looks as I'd expect it to - and I couldn't say the same about FS9.One thing people need to bear in mind with buying widescreen monitors is that the game will look far better in the monitor's native resolution. For example, my screen's native resolution is 1920x1200 (16:10), so I run FSX at that resolution, otherwise the image is stretched across the screen which isn't usually too pretty. You could also run the game in a lower resolution and have the image unstretched on screen but you'd have huge black borders.Anyway, the reason I mention this is that you normally have an associated performance loss when running at such a relatively high resolution so for anyone tempted to move in this direction just beware you'll need the poke in your PC to achieve the results you desire.FSX looks great though!
October 30, 200619 yr Well I setup 16 : 9 last night and the answer is "kind of". You have to manually edit fsx.cfg entry for widescreen aspect. I wonder why selecting widescreen resolution is not enough. But the wide view is great and VC looks correct, didn't try the 2D panels but they are supposed to strecth...
October 30, 200619 yr I mean running in 16:10 the 2d panel result in a strech view to me (my laptop has a 1680*1050)...any tips? or suggestion?Andy
November 1, 200619 yr Well I'm not so sure anymore... the wideaspectview=true setting in fsx.cfg only seems to alter zoom (more zoomed in when true), the VC panel does stretch.. or at least looks like it does :)
