August 28, 20205 yr You can always use atc to fly VFR, and maybe you could spin it out to a rudimentary ifr plan, but to have atc have the greatest chance of not killing you, you would need a flight plan loaded in the sim. I don’t think it’s possible to make a plan in the flight planner, and have it not already loaded in the cdu, if that is what you are asking.
