August 29, 20205 yr I've seen this in more than one aircraft. In the Cessna Citation, Cessna Caravan and TBM, for example. You have the autopilot on with Altitude and Navigation modes. Flying along; whistling a little tune; everything fine. Switch to Heading mode with the heading bug on the current heading. It follows the heading bug, but over time and/or after a different heading is dialed in, the aircraft gets in situation where the heading is being tracked but the rudder is deflected to the point where the turn coordinator is practically fully deflected left, or right. This isn't right. It's like the autopilot is using the rudder only to track the heading bug. Has anyone seen this?
