I was wondering about this issue too. I frequently use this feature in FS9 for the same reason you describe. It's fun to replay your landings from different perspectives. I think this must be a bug in FSX because the manual describes how to move the tower just as in FS9, but this feature is missing on the map screen. I think Microsoft should be prodded into fixing this obvious mistake in the program.

Well now, THAT is definitely a reason why Active Camera ought to be ported over and offered for FSX. I defended the new camera view system when discussing outside aircraft views and creating new views in the cfg file, but it's a durn shame that the lil' tower thingy is no more. Outside aircraft views are usually something you want to define permanently, but the lil' tower view thingy was also handy for temporary off-site stuff. After years of using it I'm going to miss that lil' thing. Breaks my heart to think of that poor lil' tower now stuck out in the middle of nowhere all by it's lonesome... (sniff).....
