August 31, 20205 yr Hi all, I'm still rocking an old 5960X overclocked to 4GHz on all cores with a GTX980 and 32GB of RAM. FS2020 actually runs ok at 1080p on ultra, I get a solid 30fps in most areas and 20-30fps in larger cities. I've recently borrowed an ultrawide monitor however, and 3440x1440 is unplayable at under 10fps with heavy scenery. With the RTX3000 series on the horizon, I'm wondering if a GPU upgrade makes sense to tide me over, or will the CPU be a bottleneck? Is anyone out there running one of these older 8-core chips with a 1080 or 2080? Just wondering how this chip scales with faster GPU's. I'd like to hold off on upgrading the rest of my system for at least 6 months. Thanks!
