C182 Paris approach with 4 screens

Getting quite used to the MSFS, I really like the C182. It flies very realistically, as well as it does in XP. No sim really mimics real flight as you need control feedback for that.

I just flew London City to LFPG Paris, in actual WX. It was VFR but I flew it as an IFR auto pilot flight just to see how well the 182 would handle it. It was flawless. Including STAR and ILS down to 1000' all where I took over.

The visuals are fantastic very much like Orbx TE, except they are of the whole planet and included in basic purchase. The clouds are great, very life like, and don't cause a loss of frame rate.

The video below shows the last part of the flight, with loc and GS captured. AP did the whole flight after initial climb out. I monitored the various VOR's and used DME a lot as well but the flight was flown with GPS as primary until I intercepted the loc.

The whole flight felt very real, like the flights in a real plane. Workload with the G1000 is very light.

I use a 4 screen setup and get from 24-35 FPS in a flight like this even over London, I have the Orbx EGLC and landmarks installed. I run MSFS in windowed mode and add ATC and VFR map on the sides with the MFD and PFD on the lower monitor. It is not as nice as running AirManager in XP, but that should be working very soon in September I hear.

I still use XP but as I am getting use to MSFS I find I like it better, you need to learn new ways of doing things, but most things can be done. Like I can change to go direct in the Garmin but it is different than in XP. Neither is exactly like the real G1000, and I would say XP is much closer at this point.

We are supposed to get an update this week, but I personally am not really having any trouble. I have some things I want like the AiManager to work, but I can wait, I can always use XP to fly as well.

I would say at least with the C182 both VFR and IFR works great in MSFS. I spent a few years getting XP to work the way I want, and I expect it will take some time for me to customize MSFS as well. So far I only have 30 hrs of flying time in the new sim, and I have loved every minute. You have to tune for max frame rate, as you can see below my system is not brand new and not all that powerful, but it runs great I get about the same frame rate as I do in XP 10.50RC1 flying TE.

Don't be upset with this new sim, enjoy it, or not. It is up to you. Choice is good, and so is competition.
