G1000 Crash to Desktop when planning approaches

Featured Replies

I am setting up an IFR flight plan for an ILS 27R approach in the flight planner.  I placed my aircraft on the world map and then chose ILS low altitude airways and then chose ILS 27R on the approach and started the flight.

When I start the flight, I bring up PROC on the G1000 and select Activate Approach and BAM!  Crash to Desktop.  This happens on both my Beech Baron and Cessna 172.

Anyone else having this?

I'm now trying just to start an IFR flight plan with "automatic" approach and see if I can choose it from the G1000.

Yes , we need more people reporting this tbh, Pain in the butt when it happens, Have learned to just save a lot and to not try and fiddle much at all with G1000 , too many cursor lock ups. Have only had 1 CTD through the G1000 so far though.

Yeah mine consistently crashes to desktop if I mess with PROC on the G1000. Exact same as you: click activate or load and it will crash. I just can't use that function for now.

I have a suggestion for you to try. Don't change from VFR in world map, do not put in destination, just depature. Reply's appriciated with your findings. I want to nail this down cause CTD on a nice long flight is the worst. Especially after fiddling with all those dials ;-;

Recent weeks use of MSFS since I started using world map in VFR mode only without a destination set:

I don't hold back when using flight planner. I'll use depatures, enrouts, holds and approaches without any CTD. Today I got my first CTD in a few weeks, happened on a flight where I put a destination airport in by accident in the flight planner and it showed up in the Nxi when I spawned in, making me aware I'd done what I wouldn't normally do.

I took off, edited the fp to include an enroute at waypoint into a hold. I used HDG with NAV waiting, guiding AP into an intercept to the waypoint then into the holding pattern.

After just over an hour I had a CTD. Not sure if it matters but for the record I didn't enter any procedures into the Nxi on this flight. Just one waypoint then a hold on that waypoint with destanation and depature airport excisting from world maps input.
