Outer/middle/inner marker beacon for the Cessna 172 G1000?

Featured Replies

Hi.  When I fly the Cessna 172, G1000 version, I don't really notice a visual alert on the G1000 screen when the plane crosses one of the outer/middle/inner beacons.  Is there a visual alert somewhere on the G1000 screen?  Is there a visual alert somewhere else in the cockpit?  (is there even an audio alert when you cross the outer/middle/inner beacon for the Cessna 172, G1000 version?)

Anybody know?  Or perhaps there is no outer/middle/inner marker beacon alert for the Cessna 172 G1000?

I dont think that is modeled.

Ahh darn. Is there a real life G1000 Cessna 172 pilot that can give us the details of this and how it works in the real G1000 Cessna 172?  If so, I can report it in the Wishlist or Zendesk so at least it gets the attention of Asobo.

The markers are displayed in MSFS as on the G1000 on the PFD (on the top left side of the altitude scale, refer to the G1000 manual for the C172 page 131) I could get both markers on the ILS12 at KBZN.

Nonetheless, I couldn't get the beacon audio.

Nice!  I see the "O" on the top left side of the altitude scale.  So all that's missing is the beacon audio, right?

Do any G1000, Cessna 172 pilots know if there is also a beacon audio for the G1000, Cessna 172 in real life?

Affirm (as far as I could tell).

Affirm.

The link I've provided above is the "real life" C172 G1000 manual.

Note that beacon markers are expensive to operate and maintain. Therefore, they tend to be decommissioned. Moreover, their function was be replaced by the DME and in a larger extent, by GNSS approaches.

Ok.  Maybe I'll go report it on Zendesk later.  I would like to hear the sound as well and I'm sure that's an easy fix for Asobo.

You may try at other locations with beacon markers to confirm it (it took me a bit of time to find KBZN).
