Hat Button Question

Featured Replies

I seem to be missing something in getting my Saitek yoke hat button mapped in AAO. I can get pan views but how do you map a button so that each consecutive press cycles to a specific set of views, like the standard hat mapping in MSF2020? I can see the mapping in MSF but unless I map the forward direction to just next view and cycle through every view I see no way to hit the button and have it cycle through the views that are default currently in the sim, standard forward, up and forward, down and forward.

Appreciate the help,

Hi,

Sorry, I'm not sure that camera/view control is possible with AAO at the moment. Most of the camera system events are non-functional in the MSFS SimConnect API. What you see on the controller assignment dialog in MSFS is not the same as what an external app like AAO can do via the API. The camera events and variables are all there in the SDK spec, but when actuated, they do nothing. Which is "not good", since I have a camera app too that I would like to get operational. But until now, no luck. Asobo have promised to get everything functional eventually though, so there is hope in every simulator update.

At the moment the only solution is to still assign the camera controls within the simulator. As long as you don't utilize the same axis/button assignments in both AAO and the sim, the two won't interfere.

Edit: that being said - did you try all the relevant events from the view system? Like "VIEW_MODE", "NEXT_SUB_VIEW", "PREVIOUS_SUB_VIEW", "NEXT_VIEW", "PREV_VIEW" etc?

Best regards
