September 28, 20205 yr SYMPTOM Game crashes after hitting the ESCAPE key to pause the game Game sometimes crashes when pressing the Fly button CAUSED BY This happened straight after setting Volumetric Clouds to Ultra and trying to ESCAPE to pause the game Note that the game played fine on ULTRA for 30 minutes but only crashed after pressing the ESCAPE key Even tho I reset the Volumetric Clouds back to High the game still consistently crashed on pressing ESCAPE or sometimes when pressing Fly TRY TO RESOLVE BYDidn’t work:😒 I assumed that the very first crash after setting clouds to ultra corrupted a file somewhere as I had no ctd’s since the last patch so I Deleted all my files (not folders) in the Microsoft Flight Simulator folder. FS recreated the files on the next game load THIS WORKED😄 Still on the assumption of a corrupt file I suspected there maybe some sort of live flight log been recorded by the game which got corrupted due to the flight not been completed so to test this followed these steps Plan a flight with just a departure from an airport I kept trying to load this flight until I was able to press the Fly button and get in the cockpit without a CTD Took off from the Airport Immediately landed Parked the plane and shut the aircraft down which causes the game asked if I want to continue or return to main menu I returned to the main menu No more CTD’s I have since started over dozen flights & pressed the escape key and haven’t had a single crash I don’t know the real reason this worked but it worked for me
