No traffic?

Featured Replies

I don't know if this is related to the upgrade I installed this evening (Sept 29 - Steam) BUT...

flying over San Diego airport, harbor, freeways - there is NO boat traffic, NO airport traffic, only one or two vehicles on I-5.  I have all traffic, of any kind including AI, set to 100% but the waters, runways, and roads are devoid of anything interesting. I have all settings to High or Ultra, Terrain Level of Detail = 120.

I flew back and forth along the KSAN runway at 2,000 for 30-minutes and never saw any movement at the airport and none on the water.

Maybe there was no airport landing/takeoffs because there was a DHL 767 parked in the middle of the runway at right angles to the flight path.  And, it appeared there was a small GA plane trapped under the 767 belly.  The DHL plane was about 400-yards from where DHL planes are parked to load/unload.

Should I expect to see planes moving about the airport, or at least a fuel truck or food truck?  San Diego harbor is extremely busy and there should be several cruise ships at the Broadway terminal, and at least two aircraft carries tied up on North Island.  And there should be thousands of small boats inside of Harbor Island and Shelter Island.

I thought San Diego was one of the photogrammetric locations.  The trees, bushes, and smaller buildings look like crude boxes from 2000.

I found the missing ships and boats!!

They are ALL submerged - the two air craft carriers at North Island have their flight decks just below the water surface and only there super structure is above water.  There is a cruise ship at the passenger terminal but only the top two or three decks are above water.  The missing pleasure boats are all visible beneath the water with the larger sailboat masts sticking up in the air.

Quit to the desktop and restarted - then flew at 500' and 65 knots over the harbor in the 172 and found the missing boats

???

Still no airline or GA traffic coming or going from KSAN.

And I-5 is almost devoid of any traffic

But - the good news is my ability to change the weather has suddenly returned after being missing for the last ten flights.  And - NO I did not change MP or anything anyone has reported as affecting weather in the custom menu.

Changed Terrain Level of Detail from 120 to 155 and the cruise ship is now mostly above water but the aircraft carrier is still sunk at the dock.  Some of the larger pleasure boats are now on the water surface but the smaller ones are still under water.

The pedestrian foot bridge beside N Harbor Drive that crosses a waterway is above water on the east side but under water on the west side even at TLD = 155.  Both ends are under water at TLD 120 (my normal setting).
