I suppose there is nothing you can do about it but yesterday I flew over Japan in MSFS (as a lot of people probably did yesterday 🙂 ) and I noticed the names of towns etc. on the map were all in Japanese characters.... I do know I can change maps and see those names written in regular characters but I do like to use the Open Straat Map (or Topo) and I wondered if there is any way I can make OSM to show all names etc. in western characters? So no more Japanese, Russian, whatever? I mainly use LNM as a moving map to see which city or lake etc. I am flying over.

You cannot change the OSM, sorry. These are downloaded pre-rendered image tiles.
Try the Google maps here or Stamen Terrain:
