To fly the drone (to get a better look at any scenery, such as areas of your hometown) you could use a couple of hats.

But, once you get back into cockpit view you can have anything at all completely different programmed onto those same hats. So, using the hats for flying (moving) the drone (i.e. changing the drone views) will not use up any buttons or hats. Because those msfs commands do nothing if you aren't in the drone view mode.

On one hat: pan up, pan down, pan left, pan right.

Another hat: move up, move down, move left, move right. And using your designated 'shift' key move up becomes move in and move down becomes move out. ... e.g. 'shift' key + hat up will do a move view in instead of move view up.

All those key commands are NOT sent by the hat to the sim whenever you leave drone view mode and return to cockpit view mode or outside view mode. They are sent only in drone view mode.

So you can program any other set of commands whatsoever onto the same hats, and they will work in cockpit view. I put the same movements onto the hats for both cockpit mode and drone mode: panning and moving. But they are different command names.

Example : Ladder Hat moved upward is button 7. Search by input on left shows the two different commands which I put on the same button, over on the right: COCKPIT LOOK UP, and PITCH DRONE UP. One 'pans' the cockpit camera, the other 'pans' the drone camera in the same direction: they pan UP.

Here is my move view IN commands. Key 4 (the big red paddle) is my shift key. Hat up is key 11. So move IN is 'shift' (4) + hat up (11).
