Performance Reverb 1 with v5?

Featured Replies

Anyone using the Reverb 1 at full resolution with v5?

How's the performance? What CPU and GPU are you using?

Thanks a lot!

Reverb 1 performance is very good at 150% supersampling 9700k cpu OC5GHz 2080ti. Can hold 45fps in regional areas and good enough in urban areas. I won't say excellent because there is still a little stuttering. Biggest issue is VRAM. If you get the settings wrong it will crash and hang. 2080ti starts with 11GB. Operating system takes 1GB. VR takes another 1.5GB so real VRAM cap is 8.5GB which is ok but can be marginal in some situations.

Reverb hand controllers aren't needed and the windows mixed reality software is good enough to import desktop windows into the sim but could be a lot better.

You are going to wait for the Reverb 2 yes?

Thanks glider1.

Yes, I've pre-ordered the Reverb 2. V5.1 will hopefully fix the VRAM crashes. I see that the 8GB of my RTX2070 will probably not be enough.

How is the CPU utilization, do you think my 8700K will do?

The Reverb v1 and v2 screen quality is high enough that we want to push settings up which can hit the VRAM ceiling. On lesser headsets the 2070 can use 1K textures and lower settings with no problems on VRAM. The 8700K will do fine. The two extra cores of the 9700K help with running external apps and loading scenery but it is no biggie. There will be a few FPS difference between the processors.
