Warping software for 2 projectors.

Recommended Posts

Hi All: I have been searching for months, and  years trying to find warping software for projectors, that does not cost a kings ransom.

What do cockpit builders use for 2 and 3 projectors on a curved screen?

I have dual vivimage projectors. 1080-P native 60hz. Right now I just line them up in the middle, and have a tiny line on my screen where they come together. I am easy, I can live with that, but the out of focus on the sides of the curved screen are miserable.

I am running 3840 x 1080 screen size. I use Nvidia surround on a 2070 super card.

I used wayback machine and got a free time trial copy of Nthusim to try but it only does blending, so that was no help.

I will pay $200 if I have to, but... would rather not.

All the sites I go to do not even have prices for their software and if they do, they are thousands of dollars.

ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just got Nthusim figured out. I can add points to the grid and drag them around. I am not sure this is what I actually need. Maybe I am expressing myself wrong. The sides of my curved screen are out of focus due to the projector being closer at the sides, then at the middle of the screen. Is warping software what I need, or is it something else?

 THANK YOU.

FlyElise NG is the most commonly used and is the cheapest you will find for warping software. Nthusim is gone and even its its day it wasn't very good.

Your sides shouldn't be out of focus. If they are then your setup is incorrect. Without seeing a picture it sounds to me that you have both projectors facing straight to the front on the relative side so they join in the centre. You will need to change the position of the projectors so that the left projector gives the view to the right side of the screen and the right projector to the left, similar to what is shown here https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/167272-need-a-diy-projection-cockpit-primer/

Garys: You are correct, that is exactly what I now have, the left projector shines to the left side of the screen, and the right projector to the right side.

  •  I will try what the link photo shows me and you suggested,
  • My mind balks at the projector beams crossing. I dont understand that. How do light beams go through each other without causing a messy image? At any rate I will try it, I think I can do it as a test without remounting the projectors.
  • These projectors have 4d keystone and digital zoom which is one of the reasons I picked them, and the price being what I could afford, so I grabbed all the features I could get in my price range.
  •  I will look at buying fly elise than. I had better get this focus issue resolved first however.
  •  For those who care, I am very happy with the image they produce, but I admit I am not very demanding a person either.
  •  Thank you so much for the advice.

WOO WOO WOO: I crossed the projector screens as GaryS  suggested and the edge focus is a billion times better. I am very happy with what I have now. I cant wrap my head around the beams crossing through each other, but I will allow the universe to have its way 🙂

I think now I need the warping software, I do not have straight lines on the screen, they tend to look like an angle in the middle of the screen and at the bottom edge of the screen. I guess this is what I need warping software for. I know everyone uses it, but did not really understand why, or how it works. The nthusim did not help much I played with, it just made things worse.

 Thank you once again.

That is great to hear. Yes the warping software will straighten out those lines, however it is a manual process. If you buy the ultimate version it comes with calibration pro which helps with the warping process by creating files to place in the flight sim software.(MSFS not yet) but isn't 100% nessesary. First time warping is going to be frustrating but it will be a bit easier if your not blending. Do read the documentation thoroughly and try and find as many youtube videos as you can find. Most will be for 3 projector setup but the same rules apply. I also highly recommend buying a laser level to help with the process of laying out the lines on the rows and columns evenly.

Good luck with the warping. It will be great once your done.
