Guys, I have this query about A320 Approach phase activates automatically when I'm still far away from the airport, this significantly reduce my airspeed. I believe this is manually activated by the Pilot on approach, please correct me if I'm wrong I would like to know how the system should really work. 

If you're in Nav mode, approach phase activates automatically when flying over the DECEL psuedo-waypoint. You can always change your speed mode to a selected speed if you don't want the managed speed.
