Airports with offset ILS course or LDA approaches

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone - as far as I can tell, the ILS headings in sim are locked to the runway headings.

Any ILS approach where the heading in real life is at an angle is not properly represented, at least of the ones I have seen.

I'd like to make a really clearly documented ZenDesk ticket and a Bugs/Issues post about this.

Are others seeing the same thing?

What's your favorite airport with a slightly offset angle ILS approach or an LDA approach so I can go check it out?

Dont kbow about ILS, but ive flown many VOR approach with crazy offset and restriction that make you go centerlin 2nm before threshold (Nantes LFRS being one). BUT i would not be surprised if your right. My guess is as long as there is an ILS avalaible, its always gonna be centered regardless of the offset that may exist in real life.

What I've observed is actually that the ILS heading is locked to the runway heading, not the location of the ILS beam 'start point'.  So at airports where it is offset but at a slight angle (generally setup so it intersects the runway heading at around the MDA), the angle is missing and the ILS just runs parallel to the runway.

Also at LDA approaches like say PASI (Sitka), the localizer heading = the runway heading even though it doesn't in reality.  Since LDA approaches are often setup to avoid obstacles, this can result in some issues.

I was hoping to nail down if this is the case for every single airport in the sim, in which case I can make a big generic bug, or if maybe it's only some airports (which would make it a lot harder to get attention on because it becomes a per-navaid fix).
